Fluid-body interaction

In this section, we model the fluid-body interaction. The hydrodynamics of the Newtonian incompressible fluid is described by the Navier-Stokes equations and the body dynamics by the Newton equations. We describe the coupling of these physics by considering rigid arbitrary bodies in \(2\)D and \(3\)D (in subsection Theory). We perform simulations using the fluid toolbox of Feel++. We first consider isolated bodies that are placed in incompressible Newtonian fluids and that fall under the effect of gravity (in Simulations with isolated bodies). Then, we analyze the motion of the three-sphere planar swimmer (in Simulations with articulated bodies).
