Methodology
In this section, we describe the various steps of the methodology used to create and verify the quality of building meshes. The processes to create surface and volume meshes are explained in detail, along with the associated quality checks.
1. Methodology Steps:
Here are the detailed steps of the methodology:
-
Surface Mesh of one building
The creation of the surface mesh of a building involves several sub-steps:-
Building base
-
Triangulate Polygon: This step involves triangulating the base polygon of the building.
-
Base extrusion: Next, the base is extruded to create a three-dimensional structure.
-
Wall extrusion: The walls are extruded from the base to create internal wall.
-
Floor creation and Merge or Union of Floor with base: Finally, the floors are created and merged with the base.
-
-
Building roof
After creating the base, the roof of the building can be generated:-
Straight skeleton extrusion: The straight skeleton extrusion is performed to form the roof.
-
Height adjustment: Next, the height of the roof is adjusted to match the specifications if asked.
-
Wall extrusion: The roof walls are also extruded to complete the structure.
-
-
Merge or Union of base and roof: Finally, the base and roof are merged to form a unified structure.
-
-
Building Merging: Once each building is created, they are all merged into a single mesh.
-
Volume Meshing: After the surface Mesh completed a Volume Meshing can be performed.
2. Quality Check:
To ensure the quality of the generated meshes, specific checks are performed:
-
Surface Mesh quality check: This check ensures that the surface mesh meets quality standards.
-
Volume Mesh quality check: This check ensures that the volume mesh meets quality and accuracy requirements.
